“Nadine Lafleur is an avid health advocate, yoga teacher, ocean lover and the creator of Bali Bliss Retreats.”
Where are you now and where is your next travel destination?
I’m in Sydney and my next upcoming travel destination is Sri Lanka. It’s my first time and the trip will be a reccy for the expansion of our retreat network, stay tuned.
What do you like most about your job?
My favourite part of organising yoga retreats is seeing my guests’ faces on the day they leave us – full of energy, full of life and gratitude for having made the right decision to invest in themselves and their own wellbeing.
What do you always pack in your carry-on luggage?
My Beats By Dre headphones, socks and a hoodie for complete comfort during my usual red-eye trips back from Bali to Sydney.
What is your most memorable trip?
I’ve loved all tropical island destinations I’ve been to, but I’d pick Micronesia, living on a private sailing boat for a couple of weeks and having the ultimate in flexibility to go off the beaten track was an adventure of a life time.
What must-have travel products, accessories or apps do you recommend for any traveller?
I always travel with a sarong – it’s such a versatile item that can protect you from the sun, give you warmth (at night on the motorbike when you feel the wind chill) and dress you on the beach. Plus it weighs nothing and I make a Balinese merchant happy when buying it.
Your favourite travel quote is…
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” – Neale Donald Walsch.
If you could be someone else for one day who would that be?
It would have to be my mother – a kind of love I have not experienced yet.
Your greatest weakness is…
That I can’t be in multiple places at the same time. There’s so much adventure in the world that calls for exploring and too little time in a life.
If you could travel through time – where and what year/era would you chose to visit?
1968 – legendary rock’n’roll music, campervans, surfaris, boho outfits, long locks and flowers, and the whole world was united in their belief in peace and love for all.
As a travel expert, what are your travel hacks/tips for our readers?
Practice travel awareness. Get off the beaten track, with caution. Don’t listen to what others say, but be curious. Bring an open mind and try what you normally wouldn’t and you may be surprised.
